Decero Amano

Decero Amano takes its name from our “Amano” or “by hand” approach. As the pinnacle of our achievments each vintage, Decero Amano is a blend of our most distinctive parcels from our Remolinos Vineyard. The wine is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat: Violet aromas emanate from the Malbec, red fruit flavours and structure of the Cabernet gives excellent length, whilst the jasmine perfumed Petit Verdot brings firm tannins as does the Tannat which adds even more textural complexity. Decero Amano is a wine of extraordinary finesse and silky elegance having gently matured over 22 months in new French oak and a year in bottle prior to release.

The inaugural 2006 Decero Amano was awarded 94 Points by The Wine Advocate and 2007 Decero Amano was named in the Top 100 Wines of 2010 by Wine Enthusiast.

2009 Vintage

2009 is commonly regarded in Agrelo as the vintage of the decade. The long, warm, dry summer with neither peaks nor lows in temperature provided perfect picking conditions for us to pick each parcel at its zenith across 23 days. Malbec exhibits violet aromas and deep dark fruit, the Cabernet of 2009 showed particularly great finesse whilst Petit Verdot and Tannat have particular richness from 2009.

2008 Vintage

2008 provided the idyllic vintage conditions for wines of finesse and longevity. The days were consistently warm but never peaking with heat, the nights notably cooler than previous years. As a result the phenolic, sugar and flavor ripeness evolved in perfect unison to the delight of our viticulturist. The dry summer allowed no rain to hinder the perfectly healthy grape conditions. Both Malbec and Petit Verdot excelled especially, both showing firm structure.

An excellent vintage at Remolinos Vineyard and outstanding for Malbec. The daytime temperatures of the growing season were warmer than usual whilst the nights were colder brining good acid/sugar balance and greater color and phenol content in the grapes. The quality of grapes from the 2007 vintage was extremely high; excellent balance, exceptional aromatics and concentration in the wines.
