91 Points: 2013 Decero Malbec, Remolinos Vineyard

The 2013 Malbec Remolinos Vineyard is from their estate Remolinos Vineyard in Agrelo that was planted in the year 2000. It has a clean nose with very well-integrated oak and a fruit-driven nose full of violets, berries, good freshness and elegance. The palate is very balanced and fresh with no edges. It is simply delicious. 91 Points.

93 Points: 2012 Decero Amano, Remolinos Vineyard

Comparisons can be hideous, but in a close look at different vintages together shows the differences and how the wines show (or not) the character of the vintage. The 2012 Decero Amano Remolinos Vineyard has a slightly different blend to the 2011, and here it is 57% Malbec, 39% Cabernet, Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot, slightly higher in Cabernet and without the pinch of Tannat found in other vintages. 2012 was riper and it shows with darker fruit and more evident oak (it’s also one year younger) where toasty aromas and flavors are more noticeable. Also, the ripe berries and the fresher, red fruit has turned into plums rather than cherries. Even though, it’s a superb example of a classical Mendoza blend with no edges and very good balance. It clearly shows the place and the vintage on the label, as it should be. 93 Points.

91 Points: 2012 Decero Mini Ediciones Petit Verdot, Remolinos Vineyard

Pure Petit Verdot is hard to come by and this is an excellent example with hints of dried fruits and spice. Medium to full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Drink now.

94 Points: 2012 Decero Amano, Remolinos Vineyard

Pretty aromas of dark fruits and violets with hints of flower petal. Full body, firm tannins and a fruity finish. The fresh wood comes out in the aftertaste but it shows plenty of fruit and structure in the end. Mostly Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon with a hint of Petit Verdot. Drink in 2016.

92 Points: 2013 Decero Cabernet Sauvignon, Remolinos Vineyard

A full-bodied wine with ultra-fine tannins and a caressing finish. Lots of fruit yet reserved, balanced and stylish. Well-made Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink or hold.

91 Points: 2012 Decero Malbec, Remolinos Vineyard

From one of the highest sites in Agrelo, this is a polished expression of Malbec. Rich in cherry and violet aromas, its stucture feels tight, firm and ready for a steak. With still some years ahead, you might want to save a case.

A vibrant and rich red, with concentrated flavors of dark cherry, Christmas pudding and macerated plum, accented by hints of raspberry ganache. Black licorice and mineral details show on the finish.

Gold List & Food Match Award: 2012 Decero Cabernet Sauvignon, Remolinos Vineyard

Clinching top honors, 2012 Decero Cabernet was the only wine from Argentina to be awarded the prestigious Food Match Award.

Vibrancy and real food-friendliness gave Decero not just Gold but the newly created Burger Food Match award. Hardly surprising, given the judges comments. Excellent red fruit, with a vanilla tone, this is lively and spicy, said team leader Sarah Jane Evans MW. Rich and silky with notable tannins, added an equally approving Sandro Lyhs of Oxo Tower Bar of this dense but approachable Cabernet. Equally happy being sipped solo or accompanying chargrilled fare.

94 Points: 2010 Decero Amano, Remolinos Vineyard

The 2010 Amano Remolinos Vineyard is from Agrelo a cooler area in the Lujan de Cuyo district of Mendoza, very ripe but seems to keep the freshness with good acidity and tension. It is a powerful wine with a base of Malbec blended with other varieties, which is dark-colored and feels very smoky, still marked by the oak, with a nice core of blueberries, blackberries, red fruit and spices, peat, graphite, but all these aromas should be absorbed into the wine which has lively acidity, abundant, fine-grained tannins, and is balanced with good acidity. It could be drunk now, but seeing how older vintages have evolved, I’d give it a couple of years. This is pure silk, with a kind of Audrey Hepburn perfection. A superb effort. Drink 2015-2022.  94 Points

90 Points: 2011 Decero Malbec, Remolinos Vineyard

The 2011 Remolinos Vineyard Decero Malbec is young and fruity, with harmony, good acidity, great balance and purity. Clean, long, and well-proportioned with perfectly ripe fruit, it is a delicious wine at a great price. Drink 2014-2019. 90 Points
