Finca Decero has just released the inaugural vintage of a new and exciting red blend named The Owl & The Dust Devil. Available from late 2016 in USA, Canada, Switzerland and Argentina.
On Friday 21st February, 2011 Decero Amano was announced as the winner of the ‘Trophy for Best Red Blend >US$50’. This reaffirmed Decero Amano as the dominant wine in this category being the only wine to ever win this trophy three times.
The international judging panel tasted wines from across Argentina in what is an increasingly competitive field of eligible wines. President of Wines of Argentina, Alberto Arizu, commented on the especial significance of the 2014 Argentina Wine Awards due to the ‘great level of judges and the high quality of participating wines.’
The supreme pedigree of Decero Amano in the field of red blends has been confirmed with this Trophy being awarded for a record three vintages of the wine since the competition’s inception: the 2006, 2009 and 2011 vintages. Winning this trophy amidst wines of 3-4 times its retail price shows the ongoing tremendous value of the wine. Since the inaugural 2006 vintage, Decero Amano has garnered approval of critics around the world, including a history of 94 points and being named amongst the ‘12 Most Exciting Wines of Argentina’ in The Wine Advocate.
Decero Amano is a blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and in some vintages Tannat, sourced exclusively from low yielding vines in Remolinos Vineyard of Finca Decero located at 1050 metres in the highest part of Agrelo in Mendoza. Aromatic complexity and silky elegance is the hallmark of the wine with 20 months in new french oak and bottle age adding further complexity. Decero Amano is made in very small quantites each vintage and is the icon wine of Finca Decero.

2009 Decero Amano is named in an exclusive list of ‘Twelve Exciting Argentinean Wines’ by Wine Advocate
‘The 2009 Amano – Remolinos Vineyard is a blend of 60% Malbec, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 3% Tannat aged entirely in new French oak for 20 months. It offers a very ripe, voluminous bouquet of mulberry, blackberry and melted tar with subtle undergrowth aromas. The palate is very well-balanced with juicy ripe red berry fruit laced with white pepper, orange rind and a touch of marmalade. It builds nicely to a ravishing yet fresh finish that has great persistency. If you are wondering, then the answer is -yes-: the 2009 Amano justifies the price tag. Drink now-2020. 94 Points’ – Wine Advocate
2009 Decero Amano is no stranger to high accolades as earlier this year it won the ‘Trophy for the Best Red Blend >US$50′ at the Argentina Wine Awards
‘The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon – Remolinos Vineyard is raised in 30% new oak. It has a very attractive bouquet of blackberry, boysenberry, cedar and vanilla that is both floral and elegant. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, grainy tannins. There is a tightly wound coil of blackberry fruit laced with pain grille and smoke that dovetails into an elegant but weighty finish. This is very well-crafted and deserves two years in bottle. Drink 2014-2022. 90 Points’ – Wine Advocate
‘With only 4 vintages on record, efforts have already paid off: remarkable wines, sensitively priced. All wines are made from Decero’s sustainably farmed Remolinos Vineyard in Agrelo’ Marina Gayan MW, Decanter Magazine. Download PDF.
